Alana Desouza was born and raised in London, Ontario. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Waterloo in 2015 and graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 2020. One of the highlights from her time as a student was travelling to Senegal to provide eye care to those in need.

Alana completed an externship in ocular disease at the Eye Foundation of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she managed glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. She also completed an externship at Mission Eyecare Center where she managed complex dry eye and corneal disease cases. Alana was awarded the Dr. Irving Baker Excellence in Clinical Optometry Scholarship for her commitment to patient care. With all this, her primary focus is providing and preserving vision through excellent comprehensive patient care for all ages. She also has a special interest in dry eye management and myopia control.

When she is outside of the clinic, Alana can be found enjoying the great outdoors with her fiancé: canoeing, hiking, bird watching and camping, and spending time with her family.
